BSE - Binaural Sound Engine

Give yourself a personal immersive audio environment

Introduction

With the deployment of our Immersive Sound Engine for live events and Hifi systems, we wanted to continue de develop opportunities to listen to immersive content on consumer hardware. As audio is largely consumed on headphones trough streaming platforms, we wanted to develop a solution to listen to stereo of Atmos content on headphones. With this in mind we created BSE, our binaural rendering algorithm.

What make BSE so special ?

A parametric solution, enabling custom-made parameters crafting for each individual.

Unlike most binaural rendering solutions, BSE does not use convolution to recreate the feeling of space. Indeed, in most existing solutions, models are created in advance on the basis of typical ears, to then compare the shape of the listener's ear to that of a database. this solution does not allow a tailor-made solution to be created. It is also quite expensive in processor because these filyters must be adapted in real time for each source position. Our solution is purely prametric, reproducing each part of the body contributing to the perception of sound in space. through an application (to come), we can then ask the listener which perception seems to be closest to their real perception and thus create a setting specific to their ear.

Keep the original balance

By using specific filters, BSE does not change the general timbre of the sound, avoiding the dramatic effects generally used which degrade the original sound.

Use HSR to expend the original soundscape

With the use of HSR we can go from two input sources to 5, which allows us to expand the feeling of the listening area, surrounding the listener in the sound

Demo

We would like to release BSE soon in the form of a plugin, to allow individuals to enjoy a complete immersion experience at home. For anyone who wants to listen to BSe in action, we offer a demonstration. This allows you to pass a stereo stream as two sources in BSE, use HSR to increase the sound space, or listen to a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 stream in the form of objects in BSE. With its three shortcut modes you can enjoy all your content in immersive format, whether they are natively spatialized (Atmos) or not.

Licensing

As for HSR and ISE, we’re selling BSE as a one-time payment for one brand. With this licence you will have access to BSE source code and DSP code, for you to use as you would like.

If you’re planning to sell parts of ISE code in B2B solutions, you will need to buy one licence per brand you’re planning to sell. For this type of use we’re making discount on multiple licence payement.
